Production Journal

I kept a journal during my semester abroad in Prague in 2003. These are excerpts.

Three of the most important days in my life have just ended. we shot our movie. it was the most stressful, time consuming, tiring, annoying, worrisome, angering, exciting and totally unbelievable experience. i can't believe some of the stuff that was happening around us, the crew and the huge cast and the just flat-out professionalism of the entire experience. i felt like i was on a real movie set. most anyone who knows me and knows my movies knows that it's not much more than me and a few friends with a camera and some stupid jokes... this wasn't like that at all. i don't think anyone understood the scope of what was going into this until it was happening.

The reason i came to prague was for this movie. that statement worries me in some respects. we had not planned our shooting very well, we were under-estimating everything in pre-production. we were behind almost the entire shoot. we were at each others throats. Pat was telling me to re-frame my shots, i was telling him it wasn't going to happen that way, that we needed the shot from a different angle, and Rudy was busy yelling at the extras we had on set, and trying to furiously re-organize all the shots based on the ones we were having to cut out.
